Three “D”s to set yourself up for a breakout year
Stagnation is my personal kryptonite. If you have ever been witness to me getting stuck, whether it’s in the outer world standing on a mountain ledge or if it’s within my own inner being trapped in a cycle of old patterns, you will also likely have seen me have a tragic meltdown. Everything in how I show up as a human is related to making forward movement. So when I get stuck, I’m blocking the natural flow of creative life-force energy through my being. If I hesitate too long before making a move, the pressure within me builds to the point of eruption. Of course, it would be much more graceful simply to open and allow the natural flow of energy to move me, but it’s not always easy to let that happen, especially when the mind is involved.
A primary aspect of my work is to build the structures and processes that support others in making progress in creating their own work. A large part of being able to move forward is the ability to release any internal barriers embedded by limiting beliefs and old stories and to shed any overlays imposed by external conditioning and outdated roles we had agreed to take on. In doing so, we free up our energy to flow through us and into the world, which is what it is to create, which is why we are here.
It’s become almost cliché to say that big changes are transpiring in the world. From what I’ve observed within my inspired work community over the last few years, we’ve all been making massive strides in releasing our old limiting beliefs, stories, and patterns. Subsequently, we are also seeing the demise of the societal systems and structures that supported those old narratives. However, what I’ve also seen, in the last few months especially, is that any residual old patterns that we have been hanging onto still have become incapacitating, like being trapped under ice. Thankfully, within each us, the water still runs deep.
While it’s absolutely necessary to look inward to liberate ourselves from our past, it is equally important to turn our gaze outward to create the beautiful future we envision for ourselves and for each other. Recently, I’ve heard myself saying repeatedly to those I work with: It’s our time. What I mean by this is that it’s time for the heart-led, humanity-awakening visionaries to emerge from our protective stance and show up wholly and fully in our work. No more holding ourselves back. It’s of the essence to break out of this frozen state of torpor and bring ourselves – and our work – to the world.
It’s our time
I don’t believe it’s happenstance that any of us are here at this time. I believe we are the generations who have chosen to be here now to birth a new paradigm on our planet. Each of us has a unique role to contribute to this endeavour.
The process of discovering, creating, and living our inspired work helps us gain clarity about who we are, what we have to offer, and the work that allows us to be in our highest service to humanity’s evolution.
Even if you have felt stuck in your old patterns of late, I can sense that beneath the frozen surface, the currents are shifting. You have been readying yourself for a breakout year, which is to:
- Emerge from hiding and allow your light to be seen
- Be unapologetic about who you are and the life you want for yourself
- Invest your energy into that which truly serves you
- Wholeheartedly go for your dreams
- Engage in inspired action
- Realize the abundant success that is yours
- Revel in the joyful unfolding of your life
What is required for each of us to have this experience is to get honest with ourselves about what we want, why we want it, and what we are going to do about it.
Make it your breakout year
The quality of the energy that is required to break out of old patterns does not come from the mind, it requires the potency of the creative life-force that is sourced from soul. We tap into this force not through willful intent, but through receptive alignment to our truth. In other words, we have to be real about what is true to our own heart and soul.
If you want to break out of limitation and make a big splash this coming year, you will want to identify your three “D”s:
Desire: To honour what’s in your heart to create and allow the rise of life-force energy to flow through your being.
Decision: To make a conscious choice to realize your heart’s desire in your physical reality.
Devotion: To commit wholeheartedly to prioritizing your decision and following through with inspired action.
Again, this is not a mental exercise, it‘s an energetic one. It is an act of trust to allow our inspiration to both guide us and enliven us on our journey, instead of constantly overriding our inner being because of those old entrenched patterns based in limitation and fear.
I had to get honest with myself
Recently, I fell through a hole in the ice of my own evolutionary journey. My work was not growing in the way I wanted it to. Not even close. I was stuck, which resulted in a series of unwanted challenges. While these challenges have been difficult to navigate, still, they forced me to get into reality with what was actually causing my stagnation.
When I got honest with myself, I had to acknowledge that the truth was I had not been honouring what was in my own heart. I had not been trusting where my own inspiration had been trying to lead me. This caused me to give myself a big eyeroll in disbelief. It’s true what they say, we teach what we need to learn.
The positive aspect of this experience is that it invited me to take pause and revisit the three “D”s for myself:
My desires:
- To live a life of abundance, creativity, and joy (this is my personal definition of an “inspired life”)
- To fulfill my lifelong dream of creating games
My decisions:
- To choose to create for myself and not for others
- To unabashedly go for my dreams (this means making “creating games” a reality – yes, we’re going to be playing games in 2025!)
My devotions:
- I scheduled myself and my needs first in my calendar (yes, above everyone else’s including those of my clients)
- I made an unwavering commitment to creative action on a daily basis (so far, so good)
The above required me to break out of some very entrenched beliefs, especially some old stories around me “not being supported”. Some of it even challenged my entire concept of reality, which brought a bit of unwelcome drama to my life as I navigated a dark corner of my mind. Still, I know the above are all the right decisions for me because when I made them, I instantly felt inspired. Now I can convert that energy into action. With this newfound inner alignment, I’m wagering that 2025 is going to be a breakout year.
How about for you, what three “D”s will set you up for a breakout year?
…
As we continue to move through this significant time of transformation, I am guessing the world-at-large will be in chaos for years to come. That doesn’t mean we can’t thrive now. In fact, this is the perfect time. All of that chaotic free-floating energy is available to be redirected into your new ideas and new ventures.
Break out from whatever has been holding you back and bring your whole self to the world through your desires, your decisions, and your devotion. Do so, and make next year your best year yet.
